Busy, Busy, Busy [Oct. 31st, 2007|10:12 pm]
[Current Location |Home]
[music |Helloween - Halloween]

Last week my mom, dad and I got quite a bit of work done on my house. My kitchen now has 3X the light in it, we put a light fixture in the hallway/stairway so I don't have to feel around when I leave in the morning. We put a new vent fan in the main bathroom and redid how the fans in the master bedroom, dining room and living room switched. There's now a bunch of holes in the insulation upstairs that I need to recover up.

Saturday I went to a Halloween party. I dressed up as the Grim Reaper, though I was carrying around my lightsaber and calling myself Darth Grim. :D There were half-a-dozen chicks at the party ranging from cute to hot. I got quite a few awesome photo and video shots of these chicks. ;) For some reason about half the people didn't dress up and of those that did we had three cops.

I bought Guitar Hero III for the Wii. Already beat it on medium and I'm now working on hard. It's pretty cool, not two different from the previous ones but with some new stuff like the battle mode. This is the first new Wii game I've bought for a while. I was split between the one for the Wii and the one for the PS2, but I figured the Wii is my future main game console, so I went for the version on it.

Busy Weekend [Oct. 9th, 2007|09:33 pm]

[music |Tarja Turunen - I Walk Alone]

This past weekend my best friend, Michael Wallace, got married and I had the honor of being his best man. It was a beautiful wedding at St. John's Catholic Church in Vincennes. No problems, other then the 90 degree temperature. I'm very happy for him and his wife Jennie(whom I can now refer to as my best friend in-law :P ). Not much else going on. I'm close to the half-way mark for my one class this semester, got an 80% on the first test. Been doing minor stuff around the house, my mom and dad are supposed to come at the end of the month and help me make some changes. One hallway needs a light put in it, right now I have to fell my way in the dark to the light switch. I also want to add some more light to the kitchen and change the living room fan so that it's tied to the wall switches.

In music news I found that some of Tarja's new music from her new album My Winter Storm has been released on Youtube. I'm not completely sold on it yet, but I think it has potential.

Well we didn't get a keg, not enough beer drinkers to justify it. Did get a couple cases of bud light, a case of Smirnoff Triple Black and a couple 6-packs of parrot bay. Cooked hamburgers, played beer pong(or Smirnoff pong in me and jess's case), got trashed drinking jager-bombs, played a few videogames and finished the night by the fire I made. Thankfully my place didn't get trashed...hell we spent a majority of the time in the garage. Had a good time. Woke up hungover.

I've got nothing [Sep. 12th, 2007|08:40 pm]

[music |Galloglass - Burden of Grief]

oooo....Iron Maiden going on a world tour and they're supposed to be focusing on their 80's music. Might be one I go see....if they ever come anywhere near me.

Well dad got the new garage door opener installed so my truck can finally stay inside. He also put in several extra plugs in the garage. We spent about 3 hours total yesterday and today figuring out the breaker box. Suffice it to say it's a mess. Oh well...the joys of home ownership.

At home, waiting on a bed to arrive [Sep. 8th, 2007|08:48 am]

[music |Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner]

I've had a house now for 3 weeks...how cool is that? I'm waiting on a queen size bed to show up. I've been using a twin size bed for the past 8+ years. I've always put my computer desk in the bedroom which limited the space for a bed, but now my computer desk is in the living room so I finally have room to upgrade the size of my bed.

I have 4 cats! One of my work buddies had a bunch and wanted to get rid of some so I've taken them in and given them a good home. They're going to be outdoor cats, but right now they're living in the detached garage. They're liter box trained and produce more poop combined then I do in a day. I've left the side door open the past several days so they can wonder about and get used to the outside...but I think they just hang out inside the garage. Mom and dad are coming back next Tuesday so I'm going to push them(the cats) outside so someone can keep an eye on them. Hopefully by the end of the week they're be pretty comfortable with the outside.

Almost moved [Aug. 26th, 2007|05:31 pm]

[music |Nightwish - Amaranth]

I finally got to stay in my house last night for the fist time. Spent the last week moving stuff to it, a couple of my friends helped me move my big stuff yesterday. Since Comcast Cable are dumb they don't know if they can get service to my house, it might be a couple weeks before I can post or respond. Until then enjoy Nightwish's new new song Amaranth with their new singer.

I'm out of it [Aug. 22nd, 2007|08:20 pm]

[music |Linkin Park - In the End]

I know I'm out of it when I put two frozen hamburgers in a skillet to warm up, only to realize about 10 minutes later I never turned the stove on.

Well today was the first day of classes, only taking one this year, Manufacturing Processes 2. I'll be working with a lathe, milling machine and grinder. It was supposed to be a Monday and Wednesday night class from 6:00-7:45, but everyone agreed they could do it on Monday only from 6:00 to 9:30. I'll be dead on Tuesday. Not to mention the fact that we've been working 10 hrs overtime a week and that'll probably continue the rest of the year. Add on top of that the new house and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.

I'm a home owner!!!!!!!!! [Aug. 17th, 2007|04:01 pm]

I just singed a forest worth of papers and I'm now a homeowner! YIPPIE!!!!!

A pretty smooth process. As far as the water leakage is concerned, I don't expect to have any more problems in the near future, the seller spent almost $7000 fixing it, a sump pump was installed in the garage. No complaints from me.

Gonna take a load of stuff out there in a little bit, then I'm heading to mom and dad's house(not gonna call it home anymore). We're going to get my grandma's washer, dryer and freezer and bring them over tomorrow. I'm planning on getting my computer desk, TV and some other stuff moved this weekend, so I have room to pack stuff. Gotta be out of the apartment by Aug. 31, but I don't plan to start living at my home until next weekend. I'm bug bombing the house Sunday and letting it sit for a few days. Figured this would be a good ideal since no one has lived in the house for over a month.

Anyways, I'm happy :-D

Spoke with the guy I'm buying the house from. Sounds like they're going to get everything fixed, so hopefully it'll be in good shape when I get it. With luck, two weeks from now I'll be a homeowner.

Anyways, right now I'm "home"(ie mom and dad's place). For 28+ years this was home. But since I'm finally getting a real place to live in that'll be my own I'll be calling that home, once I get it. I figure if I'm going to be paying $850+ a month I damn well better call it home! I came home to get fitted for a tux. My best friend is getting married in October and I'm best man. Looking forward to it!

Last week a couple of my friends in Columbus were introduced to Guitar Hero. I brought over Guitar Hero 2 and owned their asses! I left the game and my wireless guitar with them so they could play it. The next day I picked up Guitar Hero: Rock the 80's. I played through the career mode on medium without practicing any of the songs got 4 or 5 stars on every song on the first try. Even got 100% on 3 songs! Don't know how I managed that since I did make mistakes, but apparently I still hit every note which is what counts, I guess. Then I tried it on hard to see how far I'd get, the 10th song, can't remember the name, killed me. What's crazy is that there's later songs that I've tried on expert that are easier then that 10th song. Don't know what they where thinking with that. Hopefully, I get some jamming in with my best friend this weekend.

Looks like work is going to be getting busy. This is a good thing because busy means overtime and overtime means more money and more money means....umm....more money.

We've had two softball games so far this season, the first we lost 4-30 and the second we lost 11-20 or so. I see a pattern developing. I played third base the last game, got two people out, coach says he's keeping me there.

Later for now.

I know...I know... I haven't posted in a while, you don't need to bug me about it . ;-) [Aug. 1st, 2007|10:07 pm]

[music |nothing (TV is on)]

The most important thing going on right now is that I have found a house I want. I made an offer on July 12 and they accepted it the next day. As of right now closing is on Aug 17. Hopefully we still make that date. Last Monday I had the inspection done on it. There were some issues, the most serious issue is that when the inspector was there, the basement carpet had water in it. So last Thursday afternoon my realtor and I wrote up the inspection response asking the owner to fix some things before I proceed with the purchase. We gave them until noon Monday to respond, but the owner was out of town, he was supposed to come back Thursday, but I still haven't gotten an official response. So I don't know how long it'll be and rather the closing will have to be pushed back.

The house itself is about 25 minutes south of Columbus. There's a little less then 2 acres, the house is brick, it has 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. There is a bit more then 2200sq feet. The basement is finished and consists of one large family room and has a fireplace. There is a 2 car attached garage and a 2 car detached garage. I'm looking forward to moving in and getting out of the apartment. Hopefully I don't get delayed in moving in.
